Special Inflight Meals

Special meal selection is only necessary for passengers with specific dietary requirements travelling on international flight. Passengers travelling with infants and children should also use this facility to request a child’s or infant’s meal. Special meal selection is available up to 24hrs before scheduled departure time on flights departing from Bangkok, and up to 48hrs before scheduled departure time on flights into Bangkok. Only on THAI operated flights (TG 3 digits flights).

GFML Gluten free diet, avoids gluten, which is found in wheat, rye, barley and oats.
HNML Hindu meal containing no beef, veal or pork. Prepared with lamb, fish and other meats. Milk products allowed.
KSML Kosher meal conforms to the requirements of Jewish dietary laws.
LCML Low calorie diet meal   
LFML Low fat / cholesterol meal
LSML Low salt meal with minimum sodium content.
MOML Muslim meal, contains no pork, bacon, ham or alcohol.
Cooked according to Halal rules. MOML are normally served on THAI flights to Pakistan, so there is no need to request this type of meal on this route.            
NLML Low lactose meal. Omission of all foods containing milk, lactose, milk solids, whey, curd, and skimmed milk.
SFML Seafood meal.
RVML Raw vegetarian meal is a mixture of fresh vegetable and fruits.
VGML Strict European vegetarian. No animal products of any type.
VJML Vegetarian Jain meal / strict Indian vegetarian. Based on Jain customs. THAI offers VJML meal on flights on or after June 1, 2009.   
VLML Non-strict vegetarian prepared with dairy products
(eggs, cheese, fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts).
VOML Vegetarian oriental meal prepared in Chinese style.

Royal First Class

  • 1. Service is provided for Royal First Class passengers traveling on the applicable flight/segment only. TG 4 digits flight (codeshare/extra/charter) is not allowed.
  • 2. Online Service can be requested 24 hours prior departure time for the outbound flight from Bangkok and 48 hours prior departure time for the inbound flight to Thailand.
  • 3. If less than 24 hours before scheduled flight departure time, by calling a local THAI Office or the THAI Contact Centre in Bangkok: Tel: (662) 356-1111
  • 4. The request should be made in accordance with the deadline associated with applicable flight/segment in order that request can be confirmed.

Royal Silk Class

  • 1. Pre- ordering meals when traveling in Royal Silk Class on International flight is simple and convenient
  •  1.1) At least 24 hours prior departure time for outbound flight from Bangkok
  •  1.2) At least 48 hours prior departure time for inbound flight to Bangkok
  • 2. Service is provided for Royal Silk class passengers traveling on TG flight operated by THAI (TG 3 digits) except some flights. Please click here for inapplicable flight.

Wheelchair

Passengers must request wheelchairs at the time of booking, or at least 48 hours before departure date, if a wheelchair is needed.

THAI provides wheelchair service without any extra charge. However, please be advised that passengers must be able to take care of themselves during the flight. THAI will assist wheelchair passengers from wheelchair to seat, as well as to the aircraft’s lavatories.

THAI provides wheelchairs on board the aircraft to enabling cabin crew to assist passengers when needed to the lavatory. However, cabin crew cannot assist the passenger inside the lavatory.
 
If you are unable to take care of your personal needs inflight, we urge you to travel with a companion or escort, who can readily assist you and manage your needs.

On your departure, THAI’s staff will assist you from the check-in counter to the aircraft door or cabin seat, and upon arrival, the staff will assist you with the baggage, through the arrival area.
 
If a passenger has his/her own wheelchair, the size of personal wheelchair measurements and weight must be informed when booking, to enable us to make the necessary arrangements in order to load your wheelchair into the aircraft hold, and return it to you at the baggage hall of your destination airport.  If your wheelchair weighs over 32 kilograms (71 lbs.), special authorization from THAI is needed, due to weight and space restrictions at some airports.

Preferred Seats

Reserve Preferred Seats

Preferred Seats in Economy Class are located at the cabin's front rows and in the emergency exit rows. These seats offer extra legroom for additional comfort. Once tickets have been issued, passengers can now opt for a preferred seat prior to departure for a fee, which is based on distance flown and flight duration.

As part of the same facility, Business Class passengers also have the option of selecting Royal First Class seats for a fee on flights where a two cabin configuration in operation. This applies to a few regional routes serviced with Boeing 747 aircraft, which have a separate Royal First cabin but are not sold as such, including Bangkok to Delhi, Denpasar (Bali) and Mumbai.

  • General Information

    The sale of ‘Preferred Seats’ is now open for flights departing from 27th July 2019 onwards.

    Rates will be charged differently, according to which class of travel and which zones passengers will be travelling to/from.

    For example passengers in V and W classes will be eligible for ‘preferred seating’ only in the same aircraft zone.

    Please note, preferred seat assignments can only be purchased:

    • Through our Bangkok Reservations Office for TG operated flights only, no less than 48hrs before departure – Except for Emergency Exit Seats which are only available to be purchased at the airport check-in counter and on board when seats are available.
    • At the Airport for TG (3 digits) operated flights and for connecting TG (3 digit) operated flights only, on flights of less than 48hrs before departure time.

    The facility is applied in one direction between two given points shown in the chargeable table. The chargeable rates are determined from the point of departure to the point of arrival without a stopover at any of the intermediate points and vary according to class of travel. If passenger takes a stopover at an intermediate point, a new assessment of the charges, if applicable, will be measured from the point of departure following the stopover.

    If passenger’s journey involves multiple airline partners, please be aware that the chargeable rates are applied to THAI flights, which are operated by THAI only. In case of codeshare flights, the carrier performing as the operating carrier may and/or may not have their own similar services provided. Please contact our reservations team for further advice.
  • Rules and Regulations for Emergency Exit Seats
    Exit row seats are situated either next to or immediately behind the emergency exit door, so in the unlikely event of an evacuation, passengers are expected to assist in the opening of the emergency exit door and must be willing to cooperate with cabin crew.

    In order to comply with international safety regulations and requirements, the following passengers will not be eligible to be pre-allocated emergency exit seating:

    • Passengers under 18 years old
    • Passengers travelling with infants
    • Pregnant passengers
    • Passengers with restricted mobility (including those using wheelchairs or other assistive devices)
    • Passengers that are not in full fitness, or are too frail or impaired at time of travel.
    • Unaccompanied minors (UM)
    • Buddhist monks/novices
    • Passengers travelling with escort dogs/services dogs
    • Deportees/Inadmissible
    • Passengers requiring an extended seatbelt
    • Passengers with ‘Baggage in Seat’ (CBBG)
    Once at the airport, THAI staff and/or its representatives will check whether passengers meet the conditions above.
    If the passenger is found not eligible to sit in an emergency exit seats according to the above conditions, and where payment has already been made, passengers will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Refund
    The purchase of Preferred Seats is non-refundable and non-interlineable, except when a passenger does not get seated on a puchased Preferred Seats due to a Thai Airways failure, in which case the fee will be fully refundable.  Preferred Seats purchase documents issued can be kept to use on another flight where Preferred Seats are available.  
  • Other conditions of sale
    • Rates are shown in USD (US Dollars) and will be converted to local currency using the Banker's Selling Rate on the date of purchase
    • The above rates are charged separately and do not affect passengers’ baggage allowance, which may vary depending on cabin, status level, military status, itinerary and date of purchase
    • Any other discount in percentage related to special passenger types such as Child / Infant, Tour Conductor and Agent Discounts are not applicable for the purchase of ‘Preferred Seats’
    • Mileage is earned on the original paid fares and is not related to the sale of ‘Preferred Seats’
    • By government order or agreement, certain passengers may have tickets terms and conditions that differ from the above. This shall be stated on the passenger's e-ticket
    • Royal Silk Class passengers booked in C, D, J class can only select their “Preferred Seats” in the Royal First Class zoning on any THAI flights/sectors where a two class of service (Royal Silk and Economy) is in operation
  • Baby Bassinet Service:
    With the implementation of this new ancillary service, the seats with baby bassinet facility in economy class are now included as ‘Preferred Seats’. Bassinet service for infants can be requested at check-in only and will be charged as ‘preferred seat.’

Stand-by Upgrade

TG Stand-by Upgrading Facility

I.General Rules

- TG Stand-by Upgrading is the facility applicable in the “From…..To…..” basis at passenger contentment and satisfaction. There are two tables of the upgrading surcharges/fees shown in different currencies, varied by boarding point:


a.TG Stand-by Upgrading for sector(s) from Thailand where currency shown in THB (Thai Baht),

b.TG Stand-by Upgrading for other sectors except Thailand where currency show in different local Currency.

 

  • The stand-by upgrading can be requested after the original ticket has been issued.
  • The stand-by upgrading shall only be applied from Economy class to Business Class and Business Class to First Class.
  • Note: The upgrading surcharge table shall be applicable at Check-in Counter of the boarding point on the Departure Date.

  • The stand-by upgrading charge facility is applicable to all TG document issued by using TG carrier Fares (both normal and/or special fares) provided that passenger is travelling on Thai operated Flight (TG 3 - digits flight number).
  • Note: Industry Discount, Agent Discount, ZED Fares, ROP Award Redemption and Barter tickets are not permitted.

  • The upgrading process shall be done at the boarding airport of the applicable sector upon check-in, subjected to seat available at the time of departure.
  • The upgrading facility is applicable to all journey types: One Way, Round Trip, Circle Trip, and Open Jaw.
  • The applicable charge table is permitted for one-way basis.
  • The surcharge level are quoted in accordance with an applicable local currency and based on the actual amount. Any other discount such as Child/Infant, Tour Conductor and Agent Discounts are not permitted.
  • Any additional taxes or surcharges incurred with the upgrading are on passenger expenses.
  • Mileage is earned on the original paid fares.
  • Refund is not applicable to the upgrading surcharges.

II. Privileges for stand-by upgrade

  • Baggage Allowance – permitted in accordance with the new class of service provided that the upgrading process is done at check-in counter.
  • Lounge Access – permitted in accordance with the new class of service provided that the upgrading process is done at check-in counter.
  • Meal Service – in accordance with the new class of service if the upgrading process is completed 2 hours prior to flight departure.

Terms and Conditions for Online Excess Baggage

  • 1. Online purchasing Excess Baggage on https://www.thaiairways.com is non-refundable, valid on 1 year after purchased
  • 2. Non-endorsable, Non-transferable and Non-reroutable
  • 3. Online purchasing Excess Baggage is only valid for TG-operated flights.
  • 4. Online purchasing Excess Baggage is not applicable for Group booking, Waitlisted passenger, Infant and Mileage Upgrade passenger.
  • 5. Online purchasing Excess Baggage rate is applied for all passenger type. 
  • 6. Online purchasing Excess Baggage is applicable only in increments of 5 kgs to maximum 50 kgs and it must be made at least 24 hours prior to flight departure.

  • 8. Passenger will receive Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) for presentation at the airport check-in counter after completing the purchase process 
  • 9. Online purchasing Excess Baggage has same liability as normal Excess baggage
  • 10. Thai Airways International Public Company reserves the right to change the rates, terms and conditions of the online purchasing Excess Baggage product at any time without prior notice.
    11. Excess baggage pre-purchase also available at THAI ticket office(city) and call center (02356-1111) with allowance up to 100 kgs/person/flight at least 12 hours before flight departure.
