THAI is Prepared to Operate Cargo-in-Cabin Flight

Lt. JG. Supoj Charoensuk, Chief, Operations, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), said THAI Operations and THAI Cargo & Mail Commercial Department partnered to operate Cargo-in-Cabin flight TG475 from Bangkok at 08.01 hours and arrived in Sydney at 20.55 hours (local time) on 1 February 2022 utilizing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Packages containing antigen test kits, with a total weight of 2,930 kilograms, were securely fastened on the seats with priority concern on safety and transport efficiency.

In January 2022, THAI also operated Cargo-in-Cabin and in cargo compartment flight TG679 in Guangzhou-Bangkok route. Passenger seats were prepared to accommodate packages of antigen test kits, weighing 2,659 kilograms. 

Cargo-in-Cabin service is the optimum utilization of the cabin area in cargo flights to support the growing demand and to generate revenue opportunities. This service is suitable for products that require special care and attention such as pharmaceutical products, food, and electronic components. THAI recently discussed with the Thai Fresh Fruit Traders and Exporters Association on fruit exports. THAI Cargo-in-Cabin transportation is now available for service.

Cargo-in-cabin service is the operational exemption during the Covid-19 pandemic which THAI is allowed to operate under the ICAO standard and CAAT regulations until 31 March 2022 with further permission expected. Those who are interested, please contact cargocharter@thaiairways.com.
