THAI Cancels Flights on Bangkok-Osaka Route Due to Kansai Airport Closure

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced to cancel its flights on Bangkok-Osaka routes, v.v. on 4-5 September, 2018 due to a temporary closure of Kansai Airport that was affected by Typhoon Jebi.

Flight Lieutenant Pratana Patanasiri, THAI Vice President Aviation Safety, Security and Standards Department, said that due to Typhoon Jebi approaching Japan today (4 September, 2018) at noon time, Kansai Airport has been damaged and the runway was flooded. All airlines ceased flight departures and arrivals. It is not known when Kansai Airport will be able to operate again. As a result, THAI needs to cancel more flights on the route Bangkok-Osaka, v.v. on 4-5 September, 2018 as follows:

1. Flight TG622 on the Bangkok-Osaka route which was scheduled to depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport on 4 September, 2018 at 23.30 hours and arrive at Kansai Airport, Osaka on the following day at 07.00 hours (local time).
2. Flight TG623 on the Osaka-Bangkok route which was scheduled to depart from Kansai Airport, Osaka on 5 September, 2018 at 11.45 hours (local time) and arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 15.35 hours.

THAI will closely monitor and assess the situation. THAI will resume normal flight operations when Kansai Airport is reopened normally.
